The Body as Container

A support group for providers longing to feel more Alive in this work

Who is this group for?

This group is a supportive space for practitioners working in eating disorders, fat liberation, body trust, and trauma—those holding deep, complex space for clients during an especially intense time. Through the lens of embodiment, we’ll explore what it means to care for ourselves as we care for others, tending to our nervous systems, resilience, and humanity. Together, we cultivate sustainable self-care so we can show up as whole humans—for ourselves and for the people we support.

You also deserve support, care, and affirmation.

We weren’t meant to hold all of this.

Leaning into our bodies sources wisdom, boundaries, and play.

Our bodies can help guide and facilitate our practice.

This is a place where we, as providers, can come home to our bodies in supportive ways.

What is this group about?

This group is part embodiment practice, part clinical consult, and part exploration of embodiment within our work with clients and in general: what does the body have to offer us that we can awaken in the gentle embrace of witness and community.

This is for folks wanting to feel more than stuck, numb, and beholden to the intensity of the work and the systems that make moral injury commonplace. It isn’t a magic fix or steps towards making it all better, it’s an offering to get quiet, curious, and willing to listen to the whispers (or roars) of our body and explore what it means to respond.

This group is a container with other folks hearing the same whispers, the same calling. To be witnessed, encouraged, and affirmed in your grief and heartbreak, and to be buoyed by community that also wants to feel softer and more alive as caregivers and humans.

We will listen for what’s real over the urgency of a nervous system with too many triggers. We will decide what’s possible to shift, and what needs to stay steady because of context and complexity. Together we will hold grace for ourselves, each other, and our clients.

Hi, I’m Virginia!

I created the Body as container because I believe that clinicians and space-holders need ballasting spaces where the moral injury, the loneliness, and the despair as well as the light, the moments of shift, and the profound nature of the work can be named, honored, and witnessed. Body as container is a place to touch in with where you are in your practice, with your clients, and with yourself and explore embodiment as a companion and resource, worthy of tending to and engaging with.

I’ve been in practice as an eating disorder Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for 8 years. My work is defined by relationality, fat liberation, trauma informed with a focus on agency and autonomy and harm reduction practices. My practice has taught me, healed me, and facilitated many becomings for my life. I’m a neurodivergent human (AuDHD, CPTSD, OCD?), middle aged white lady allowing perimenopause to teach me what it’s here to both gracefully and with so much resentment and resistance, and I’m a child free cat mom learning to sing so I can perform “country roads” with my partner’s band at our wedding. I love the magic of gardening, cooking, creating, and dinking around.

This offering is informed by my practice and work with my clients, my own healing, my work and training with the Center for Body Trust and The Embodiment Institute.
